You're right. Can't remember the date, but a recent KM stated very clearly that there was "no need" for any individual JWs to prepare a website regarding their beliefs and that the official Watchtower website was sufficient. Sad, really... they've alienated probably the last capable apologist they had (Greg Stafford) and make virtually no attempt at apologeticism themselves. Just keep repeating the mantra of the dangers of the Internet.

An Organization Made of Glass?
by metatron intake a look at most religions: if you change a doctrine here or there, it usually makes little difference.. you can be a catholic and take birth control.
you can believe in evolution and still be active in most.
protestant churches.. but what about the "truth"?

The current GB members have been carefully hand-picked to ensure that another Ray Franz scenario will never occur again. And it may not on the GB level, but expect to see more and more "E-Watchman" types (those who claim to be of the anointed but believe the leadership is corrupt) come out of the woodwork. People like this are just as dangerous, as many R&F are more willing to listen to them than flat-out "apostates" who tell you to just get the hell out of the org. If the WT does not reform for the better soon, the "anointed" can and will cause another 1980, from which the organization will not recover due to the proliferation of the internet. If the current GB are dead-set in the ways, the religion will eventually dwindle to a handful of hard-core Rutherford types who will be too small a cult to be anything but a harmless historical footnote. It is, I believe, inevitable.

Do You Have A Goal Regarding Jehovah's Witnesses???
by minimus innow that you're mentally out of the religion, do you have an expressed goal regarding the witnesses?
do you want to expose the religion for the fraud that it is (like i do)?.
do you want to set up a ministry devoted toward the destruction of everything watchtower?.

A break in the shunning policy - if only on an individual basis - and if only in the case of voluntary disassociation - will be, I believe, the catalyst for the dam of free thought to burst so meaningful reform can take place. Everything else should eventually fall into place after that.

To get the courts to recognize the immediate threat the shunning policy presents to an individual's mental and emotional health and well-being. Not everybody who faces the prospect of shunning will commit suicide, but some have, and anybody who has done so is one too many. The Most Insane Thing Ever Printed by the Watchtower?
by Leolaia ini found this while perusing through old golden ages at the new york public library.
it is so patently ridiculous and offensive, i thought i'd just post the thing without comment.

Every word printed in the Revelation and Isaiah books. Totally WT-centric insanity. Although my favorite line has to be from an article I remember on masturbation back in the early-mid-80s (probably 1984, if memory serves). Seems like they had several articles on the subject right around that time. Regarding whether it was really a serious sin or not, it reasoned - I swear I am not making this up (but then again I was just a wee lad so my recollection may not be perfect): "Would you masturbate in front of the congregation?" How in the hell do you even begin to reply to such an asinine question?
BTW, ten bucks to whoever can find the article first ;)

Argument re: alcohol injected in body like blood transfusion proved wrong
by truthseeker inhttp://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/7037443.stm .
doctors save man with vodka drip .
australian doctors have kept an italian tourist alive by feeding him vodka through a drip for three days, medical staff in queensland say.

Also, think about this: If a blood transfusion is the same thing as eating blood (re: the intravenous argument), then by the same logic an organ transplant would be considered cannibalism. I'm pretty sure the GB frowns on cannibalism, so why are organ transplants a "conscience matter"?

BTW, re. Occam's Razor and the WT... remember, this IS the Tower we're dealing with here... there ARE no "simplest explanations" with their mentality...

The purpose of shortening of the Public Talks is (allegedly) to allow for more time in field service in the afternoon. I believe it has to do with more control over what is coming from the podium at the talks. Shorter talks means decreased possibility for speakers straying from the outlines, injecting their own ideas, etc. But I would not be surprised if the talks were completely dispensed with in the not-too-distant future. The continual tightening of the screws is an indicator that the WT is scared, and for good reason. Look at the proliferation of E-Watchman and other sites by those who claim to be of the anointed (There's not a ton of them, but they are out there). E-W is a huge threat to the WT because 1) he claims to be of the anointed, and, though his ideas are at least as nutty as the Tower's, his rants are different in that they are at least far more interesting than the WT's recycled pablum 2) pushes the idea that JW's are indeed God's Chosen People but that the WT is corrupt and Jehovah will "cleanse" it soon and 3) DOES NOT ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO LEAVE THE ORG. What is more dangerous to the GB? An "apostate" who says to get the hell out of the cult (obvious agent of Satan there) or an "apostate" who actually still teaches that JWs are the only "true religion"? People who are still in the org who cotton to the latter POV are FAR MORE of a threat to those on the outside. Expect to see an artificial, WT-induced "sifting" soon. Maybe they will make us take some kind of an oath or pledge of allegiance to the flag, er, organization, or one day, out of the blue, ask point-blank for a show of hands if there is anybody who has doubts about "Mother". Or maybe they will try to stage Armageddon. I don't know about Kool-Aid, but "compounds" or some such would not surprise me at all. Remember the Residential Towers that were supposed to go up a few blocks from Columbia Heights a couple of years back? I believe that the WT would rather go out with a bang than a whimper before they lose their wad to the multiplicity of lawsuits that are indubitably pending. The time is just right for just such a scenario. Look at the Middle East, for Christ's sake.

A coup against the Watchtower?
by Dead Man Joaquin ini believe that if enough "anointed" get fed up with the hypocrisy of the leadership, a coup may be likely if not inevitable.. .
what i've been wondering is: how would such a scenario play out in real life?
i'm sure we can agree that all the organizational power ultimately rests in the hands of the eleven little men in brooklyn known collectively as the governing body.

I agree that the recent article regarding the "anointed" having no more spiritual insight than anyone else will probably piss off a few of them. But what are the logistics of such a thing happening? What kind of security measures employed at Bethel would have to get past? I imagine having the thing televised might put the current GB powermongers in a mighty uncomfortable position in which they would be compelled to acquiesce...
